Since Violet had 5 ear infections in less than 6 months (4 since November), she got to have tubes put in her ears this morning. She and I got to Riverton Hospital at 7:00, surgery was at 8, and we were home by 9:15. Everything went really well and every person who encountered her at the hospital had to comment on how cute she was. While we waited for the nurse to take her back for the surgery, a child life specialist hung out with us and brought toys for Violet to play with. The only time she got mad was when they weighed her. After they were done getting her vitals, she got to play and really warmed up to the child life specialist, dancing for her and giving her a hug at one point.

Waiting for surgery
She had to remove her binky so that she could "read" the book to me. |
Then when the nurse came to take her away, she didn't even cry. A half hour later, they brought her back to me all groggy and sleepy. We snuggled for a while before I made her wake up and get dressed so we could get home and send Dave to work.
The doctor (the father of one of my good friends from Price) said that she really needed the tubes. Her ears were full of fluid that was not draining, so they would've kept getting infected a few days after every round of antibiotics. We have high hopes that the tubes will help her finally start sleeping through the night consistently.

I'm glad everything went well. Hopefully she starts feeling better soon!
On a side note...Zachary has that same book that she's reading in her picture :)
Hooray for tubes, good luck on the sleeping through the night!
