In light of the aforementioned reasons, Dave and I decided to put the question out there for all of you faithful readers to answer. What kind of cake should I attempt to make for Eddie's first birthday? The polls are open, so please cast your vote. Feel free to leave additional thoughts and suggestions in the comments. Eddie is a lucky boy. My boys just get a plain old chocolate cake :-) Maybe one day I'll get ambitious and do something like this. They're all so cute!
I'm voting dump truck. I figure it's the most recognizable image for a kid his age. Plus, that dinosaur looks awful scary!
I say ROCKET. It looks a little less complicated than the shark and dinosaur/dragon(?) yet is still awesome. Good luck! Or you could try cute cupcakes. They are more his size and come in little individual servings. Plus you can really pile on the frosting!

A rocket piñata is pretty easy to make to go with it.
I voted dinosaur/dragon that way you can go either way with the theme of the party. It is always good to have options.
Obviously, I can't decide what I want most... but I still voted for the dump truck. I think that one might be easiest to make.
My mom always made us fun shaped cakes when we were kids and it was always something great we got to look forward to. We'll see if I carry on that tradition beyond this year.
I voted for the spaceship. I think you should put a picture of Eddie looking out of the window of the ship. I have some cake decorating tips you can borrow if you want.
Space ship. I almost went with the shark because he has crazy googly eyes and it looks like he is about to nibble on the dinosaur's bum, but I didn't want to throw my vote away.
I vote for a trip to Granite Bakery! But, if you really want to make a cake, I vote for the rocket. It's super cute. Plus, Dave could get all design-y and put a picture of Eddie in the window.
